5 Helpful Enewsletter Tips

There are many marketing channels to utilize for your business these days and social media tends to get much attention in the marketplace. However, never underestimate the power of email marketing. Your email marketing campaigns can be a very strong “push” marketing effort that is not only trackable but also offers click throughs and fosters an easy way of contact with a simple reply. Here are some helpful tips as you nurture your warm contacts to pursue repeat business and referrals.

Subject lines

Choose interest piquing subject lines to catch your audience’s attention. The subject line should not only grab attention, but it should be on the shorter side of length and cover what is in store for your email’s message. Yes, this can be challenging! Doing some testing of what works over time for your particular audience list is always a good idea. Another tip that can help is to customize the body of your email with the recipient’s name. Most email marketing systems will offer this, you just need to make sure you have first names matched up with the appropriate email addresses.

Diverse, informative content

Chances are that your list of contacts aren’t all actively looking to buy real estate. Some may be current buyers, while others could be recent or past clients, friends and family. That being said, sending them your listings is really only going to cater to one segment of your list which can lead to unsubscribes. A good solution for this is to make your campaigns more diverse in their content. Offer something for everyone including your listings, market information, homeownership tips or trends and maybe even some local spotlights of where you do your business.

Casual tone

In real estate, you are your business of course. Craft your messages using your tone of voice rather than being too general business-like. This will help make your message resonate better with those on your list who know you well.

CTA (calls to action)

One of the most important things is to create some calls to action. Give your recipients something else to do other than just open your email and read it. Ideas include linking to your website for current listings or property searches, requesting home value estimates or read your latest blog post. General invites to reach out to ask questions about the market or property advice can also work well too.

Frequency

Very important. Just as nobody likes getting inundated by a store’s email campaign all of the time, so will your recipient list. Especially if you are creating a regular enewsletter with diverse content, this will have a lot of current information which probably is best to be sent monthly. Hitting your list too often may result in some people unsubscribing from your list which is definitely not what you want. Additionally, figuring out the right time of day and what day of the week is also helpful. Usually early-mid week launches and earlier in the day see best results, but in the end all lists will vary depending on who they are.
