While these days Facebook is still very popular as a social media channel, Instagram has increasingly become more prominent with over 200 million active users. This platform for “visual marketing” moves towards more pictures and fewer words when connecting with one’s audience.
For the real estate industry, Instagram works nicely as you share pictures of your listings, past sales, scenic photos of areas you service and general architecture. Videos clips are also quite effective as you add more dimension to your posts. Keep in mind these need to be under 15 seconds long.
Here is a closer look at the types of posts you can do on Instagram for your business. Giving your audience more of a variety as opposed to being all business or “salesy” is always a good rule of thumb.
Casual posts – Sometimes things that are more adjacent to what you do may be of interest to your audience. Perhaps an idea including a photo of a tasty meal you ordered at a new local restaurant or a quick video of dogs at the local park could be of interest while promoting top neighborhoods.
Listings – You may not want to feature every listing you ever get, but consider promoting one of your nicest and use a shot of something particularly unique or remarkable about it. Perhaps the unique kitchen cabinetry or impressive wine cellar.
Photo quality – Nobody wants to see generic photography like you’d see on a stock photo website. Always strive to not only have top quality photos, but choose things where the composition is uniquely yours.
Tips for success – While there are many ideas for what to post, there are some guidelines of what is best to do and what is best to avoid. Do share posts of local events, areas, property features and limit hashtags. You will want to avoid commenting on every post, using too many hashtags, adding too much text, tagging people or posting more than a couple of times per day.
