Email marketing is an amazing and very powerful tool for you to use as you promote your business and engage with your audience. It can be a great way to remain consistent while you nurture leads without being too intrusive. There is definitely a range in what is the right way to handle your email campaigns from frequency to content and all of the details in between. Here 8 tips for you to follow as you maximize the effectiveness of your campaigns.
Qualify your list of recipients. Send emails to those who want to hear from you. Add people who know you well, have shown interest in your services or have directly signed up. Treat your recipients inbox as you would want yours treated.
Give options in your campaign. Provide your recipients options with some calls-to-action. Add in links for more information, contact details and links to your website. Everyone’s behavior and interests are different so make your message flexible.
Send from a personal email account. Nothing is worse than having a “no reply” email scream a message at you in your inbox. Have your email address as the sender will make it personal and also allow recipients to easily engage with a reply.
Switch up days that you send your emails. The busiest days of the week for emails sent are Tuesday through Thursday. But that is just it, your recipients could be receiving many other emails on these days. Don’t underestimate Mondays and Friday’s as you test them out for your list to see what yields the most opens.
Engage with those who have signed up directly. Those who have signed up for your email campaign have a higher engagement rate than those you manually add to your list. This is because these people “want” to hear from you. Avoid buying any lists as this can potentially damage your credibility along with annoy those who didn’t ask to be added to your email list.
Remove those who never open your emails. You may be spamming some people but just don’t realize it. Avoid sending “graymail” to people who don’t seem to be interested. Doing this will also boost the success of your open rate so you know you are hitting those who are interested.
Don’t worry about unsubscribing. A small number of unsubscribes are always going to happen so don’t fret. You can’t please everyone so it is inevitable to have some leave your list. However, if you continue to get many of these, consider how often you are sending emails or if your content isn’t appropriate or is potentially too “salesy.”
Test out different subject lines. For best results make your subject lines pertinent to the content of the email and interesting to encourage opens. Studies show that working emojis into subject lines can also foster opens. Don’t be afraid to try this with your lists.
